This movie was the last one on my list to watch from 2015 and I can honestly say, I ended that list on a high. The slasher sub-genre has a lot to live up to thanks to the classics that are Friday 13th and Halloween and Charlie’s Farm is definitely a respectable entry into the slasher world, lets be honest it was off to a good start with Kane Hodder, a slasher legend, being part of the cast. Nathan Jones plays Charlie and at 7foot tall and 375lbs it certainly adds to the terror of this psychopathic killer, I was aware of Jones in his WWE days and he was a menacing figure then, turn him into a killing machine and he becomes terrifying. With his size and strength you get some BRUTAL death scenes, and those scenes were done brilliantly, gory enough for shock factor but not too gory to ruin the movie. The flash back scenes to the history of the farm and its family obviously plays an important part and worked so well with Bill Moseley playing Charlie’s father and the instigator of the violent acts, I’m a big fan of Moseley and these types of roles really are his strong points. Although some of the acting was not very convincing from other cast members and one scene which had the potential to be incredible was a bit disappointing this was still a really good movie.
Due to the disappointing acting it did drop a few points but I still rate this 7.5/10 and recommend you stream this movie but if you’re a collector and a lover of the slasher sub-genre then buy this movie.
